An exciting new Public Library Resource.

*Library Staff and Library Users now have free library location access to an exciting new internet based education tool offered exclusively from Bell Aliant. The Bell Aliant Learning Centre has over 3,500 videos to assist library users with their research, education, lifestyle, and business needs.

* Learning Centre for Public Library Staff and Library Users is available in New Brunswick and Newfoundland only.

As an Educational Study and Research Resource.

Learning Centre has a vast selection of education videos that will enrich the learning experience of school aged children from the Public Library, Classrooms, and at Home. All Learning Centre videos are selected for their direct correlation to the curriculum in Atlantic Canada K-12 Public Schools.

As a Lifestyle Needs Resource.

To assist with lifestyle needs Learning Centre has a vast video library of topics for various every day needs including - Cooking, Do-it-Yourself, Health and Wellness, Parenting, Recreation, and Sports.

As a Business Needs Resource.

To help Businesses with their research and training needs Learning Centre offers a vast library of business topics including - Careers and Training, Customer Service, Finance, Small Business and Understanding Business.

Learning Centre offers content for every K-12 School level.

Primary Grades - core course videos in English Language, Arts, French Language, Geography, Health, History, Math, Phys. Ed., Science, and Social Studies.
Intermediate Grades - intermediate level videos in the above subjects, plus intermediate classes - Art, Biology, Chemistry, Home Economics, Physics and Technology.
Senior Grades - senior level videos in the above subjects plus advanced classes - Business Skills, Co-op Education, Economics, Vocational Education, and Transition Education.

Kids love watching videos. This makes homework fun.

Kids often struggle, become stressed, and hesitate over homework assignments, projects, and studying for tests. But we all know kids love watching videos. All Learning Centre titles are presented in video format making it fun to learn.

Kids learn faster.

Children are becoming more and more visual learners, so students need more than books alone to succeed in school. Research suggests that when kids are exposed to new classroom concepts or material in more than one median they become more engaged, retain more information, and do better in school. Learning Centre’s video format makes learning simpler and faster.

Titles presented the way your kids learn.

Every video is indexed by brief 3 to 4 minute chapters. This allows students to learn material in logical/sequential learning order. Kids also need time to let information soak in. This indexing feature allows students to easily pause, digest information, and take notes without losing their place. This also helps maintain concentration and focus through longer 20 to 30 minute videos.

Students can spend hours of frustration searching the Internet for educational relevant/age appropriate information that often just isn’t there or is only available in bits and pieces. With Learning Centre it’s all available in one place.

Find information quickly and easily.

With Learning Centre students can quickly and easily search and find specific topics by - Atlantic Canada Province, Grade, and Subject. Students can also use the handy Keyword Search to find a video on the classroom topic they are studying.

Educational-focused, age-appropriate, and trustworthy.

All Learning Centre videos are education oriented videos produced specifically for K-12 school-aged students. The Learning Centre Site is also 'advertising-free', so there are no worries about distracting or misleading ads focused at kids.

Teachers know visual learning helps kids succeed.

Both teachers and parents face the challenge of ensuring kids engage and excel in school so they can be successful in life. Teachers now know that students today need more than books alone to succeed in school and in life. Students need topics to come to life before their very eyes so we need to surround them with visual images that stimulate their interest in learning.

Bell Aliant Learning Centre’s success in classrooms.

First introduced to teachers in the spring of 2008, Learning Centre has created new enthusiasm in Atlantic Canada Public Schools. To date over 6,200 Atlantic Canada K-12 school teachers from over 868 schools have embraced this application with over 17,000 videos being played in Atlantic Canada classrooms each month!

How Teachers are using it.

Teachers are now including these videos as an integral part of their daily class lesson plans, facilitating visual instruction to reinforce concepts and present information they want their students to learn and retain.
